My New (Old-School) Job Title

One of the great things about being your own boss is that you can decide your own job title. For the last eight years or so, I have been simply: Publisher, Raging Swan Press. But no more.

Behold, I am now the:

Publisher of Useful Items

I changed my title for four reasons:

  1. I love the robe of useful items. For my money, it was one of the most useful, slightly oddball, items in the original Dungeon Master’s Guide (perhaps the greatest of all gaming books). It was one of those items that was so much more than a mere bonus; it made you think creatively. I have many happy memories of using robes of useful items over the years!
  2. I fancied a change.
  3. It occurred to me recently that essentially at Raging Swan Press, we publish useful books (do you see what I did there?) designed to make the GM’s life easier. My job title should reflect that.
  4. I can order some new business cards for UK Games Expo.

Inevitably, this has got me thinking about job titles for my freelancers. Given they all work on a variety of projects, I’m thinking about bestowing them the title:

Henchmen of Many Things

What do you think?

  1. Ahhh so does this mean you will be present at the UK Games Expo? This would be cool, I have been a regular visitor there for the past few years and will be there from Thursday onwards this year. I will have to keep my eyes peeled to get one of those business cards 🙂
