Skulls & Shackles #20: The Battle Rages On!

At the end of the last session, we left our heroes in deep peril as the party battled against the sinister grindylow queen and her minions.

Felik was in particular peril, but Fered—heroically—hurled himself into the water and pushed the near-dead elf aside. Seeing Fered’s heroic act, many of the rest of the party jumped into the water—determined to carry the fight to the queen.

As they did so, first Sandara and then Rosie burst to the surface of the pool—having escaped the grindylow’s bindings. Sandara’s arrival was particularly fortuitous as she used her powerful divine magics to start healing the party’s many grievous wounds.

At their arrival, the queen disappeared deeper underwater, but summoned an octopus to fight the party. Not to be outdone, Feng summoned a water elemental and battle was joined.

By now, most of the party were in the water urged on by Vilimzair who selflessly stayed on the cliff to secure the party’s retreat in the event of disaster. Led by the heroic Fered, the heroes in the water pressed their assault on the queen and eventually she was slain! There was much rejoicing.

Quickly, the party healed their wounds, looted the bodies of their vanquished enemies and retreated from the caves with Rosie and Sandara.

Reaching the sinkhole, the party discovered someone—or something—had untied their rope, but Feng scaled the cliffs—falling off only twice—to secure a new rope. At the top and safe, the party plotted their next plan. It seemed clear now they must deal with Scourge and Plugg and they began to lay their plans. However, they would have to do so without Kanbrar who declared he had grown dissatisfied with the pirate lifestyle and had no intention of leaving the island…
