Skull & Shackles #18: Death & Tragedy

At the end of the last session, we left our heroes delving deep into the grindylow lair in which they believed two of their shipmates languished.

Pushing on down a partly inundated passageway, the party came to a small chamber. A grill was set in the floor and behind the grill languished two drowned pirates—now lacedons! After a brief discussion, the heroes decided to slay the beasts and Alagos and Felik (along with some help from the rest of the group) did the deed. Treasure was found in their lair, including some Chellish coins and a few minor magic items!

Another passageway led away and Felik led the party deeper into the caves. It was then disaster struck! Entering another chamber, Felik was assailed by some kind of monstrous tentacled beast (later identified by Vilimzair as a devilfish). It struck with furious speed and soon the elf was in mortal peril. The party’s new member, Feng along with his crocodile companion, leapt to his aid. Although Felik was soon unconscious, the party managed to drag him to safety. Tragically, Feng’s crocodile was slain in the ensuing melee and the half-orc became quiet and withdrawn as he mourned his friend’s death.

Clearly, the way ahead was too dangerous, and the party backtracked. Exploring some more caves, the party were ambushed by a large band of grindylow. The beasts were no match for the party and were quickly slain…
