Weeknote 30/6

I had an easy week last week. This week, I’m going to give myself a hard time, as it’s not good enough!

With the summer holidays fast approaching – and the inevitable infestation of halflings – I need to make some considerable progress on August’s releases. Ideally, before the holidays start I’ll be all but done with August so the summer is a breeze!

This week, in no particular order, I’ll be slaving away over the following projects that all release in August:

  • Village Backdrop: Vulcanbridge: I’ll be completing my first edit of this new Village Backdrop by Mike Welham set in and around a volcano! As always, Mike’s come up with an interesting and compelling twist for his village, which I think will be somewhere your PCs will remember visiting.
  • Subterranean Enclave: Mith’Varal: Brian Monster has turned over the third Subterranean Enclave and I can’t wait to dive into it! This month, he’s focused on a dwarven mine fallen on hard times.
  • Urban Dressing: Mining Town: Josh Vogt and turn out impressively detailed material in very short periods of time. While Josh doesn’t play Pathfinder, he does great descriptive work and this new take on the Urban Dressing line is basically system neutral. I’m quite confident that editing this will be akin to a silken dream.
  • Town Backdrop: Deksport: I failed to do any work on this last week as Global HQ was invaded by visiting relatives who turned up and made a considerable dent in my booze store. i really have to break my duck with this project and so I’ll he hurling myself into its path this week.
  • Articles: Additionally, I’ll be continuing my advice article posting spree here on creightonbroadhurst.com. We even have a guest article from Richard Green of Parasantium fame this week in which Richard talks about how he got started in the gaming industry. I think it’s great to share this kind of story – it gives tremendous insight to prospective freelancers about how to get started in game design.
  • Sales Figures: Every month, I take a day and go through last month’s sales. I’m a firm believer that if you don’t know what sells well (or poorly) you are not in a position to make good decisions about your business. While this process is somewhat boring, it is essential.

And that’s it – beyond all the unforeseen stuff that is bound to turn up. Have a great week everyone!
